5k Route

The Canton Juneteenth 5K run/walk has been announced. Runners and walkers will get started at 7:30am on Saturday June 17, 2023 in Canton, MS. Packets can be picked up Friday, June 16th at Zoe's Restaurant or Saturday, June 17th from 6:30 a.m. - 7:15 a.m. on Hickory Street, Canton, MS.

 

Runners and walkers will begin and end in the historic Hickory Street District. They will wind their way through famous Canton areas taking them by Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Freedom House, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other civil right activists gathered; Canton Square; and the location where “My Dog Skip” was filmed. The last leg of the run will bring participants back to Hickory Street.

 

Route: 

1. Start at Hickory go north to North Street

2. Turn west (left), head to Boyd Street

3. Turn north (right)

4. Go to the George Washington

5. Turn east (right) past Freedom House

6. Go to Martin Luther King Dr.

7. Turn south (right) to North Street

8. Turn east (left) to North Union Street

9. Turn south (right) for one block to East Center Street

10. Turn east (left) to N. Lyon Street

11. Turn south (right) to Fulton Street

12. Turn west (right) back to Union

13. Turn north (right) back to Center Street

14. Turn west (left) back to Hickory Street and the finish line
