5k Route

The 2024 Canton Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk will be on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 7:30 a.m. Runners and walkers will take to the streets.  Packets can be picked up Friday, June 14th at the Block Party on Canton Square from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. or Saturday, June 15th from 6:30 a.m. - 7:15 a.m. on Canal Street, Canton, MS.

 

Runners and walkers will begin and end at the site of the future H.O.P. E Center on Canal Street. They will wind their way through famous Canton areas taking them by Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the campus of the old Holy Child Jesus campus, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other civil rights activists gathered; the home of Sister Thea Bowman, the Canton Square; and the location where “My Dog Skip” was filmed. The last leg of the run will bring participants back to the H.O.P.E Center.

 

Route: 

1. Race will start at the corner of North West Street and Canal, head south

2. Proceed down Canal Street to Fulton Street and turn left

3. On Fulton proceed to Cameron Street and turn right

4. On Cameron Street proceed to Otto Street 

5. Turn right off of Otto onto Garret Street and run through the parking lot of Holy Child Jesus

6. From Garret Street cross South Union onto Semmes Street and proceed to South Liberty.

7. Turn right (south) on Liberty Street and cross over to Hill Street turn left.

8. On Hill Street proceed to Orrick Street turn left.

9. Proceed on Orrick and turn right onto East Semmes Street

10. Proceed on East Semmes Street to Lyon Street turn left.

11. Stay on Lyon Street, cross East Peace Street to East Center Street

12. On East Center Street turn left

13. Proceed on East Center Street, cross Liberty Street towards North Union Street

14. On N Union Street turn right to North Hickory Street and turn left

15. Make a left turn on North Hickory Street and proceed to North West Street.

16. On North West Street turn right towards the finish line.
